Is Tapetide an NSE MCP server?
Yes. Tapetide works as an NSE MCP server and a BSE MCP server through one connection. It covers around 8,000 companies listed on either exchange, including small caps and SME listings, plus NSE indices such as Nifty 50 and Bank Nifty. Search by company name, symbol, BSE code or ISIN.
What is Tapetide MCP?
It connects an AI app to Tapetide’s Indian stock market data. You ask a question in your own words, and your assistant uses the relevant tools to look up companies, financials, prices, market activity and more. MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, the standard that makes this connection possible.
How do I connect Claude to Indian stock market data?
In Claude.ai, open Settings, then Connectors, add a custom connector named Tapetide with the URL https://mcp.tapetide.com/mcp and sign in with Google. Claude Desktop uses the local helper and Claude Code takes a one-line command; each has its own setup guide on this site.
Does it work with ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients?
Yes. Any app that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP can connect, including ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Zed, Gemini CLI, Codex and Cline. Apps that support custom headers can use a personal Tapetide token instead of Google sign-in. Access can depend on the app’s plan or workspace settings.
Is there a stock screener MCP for Indian stocks?
Yes. Ask your assistant to screen NSE and BSE stocks in plain English. Tapetide’s screener tools filter on 326 fundamental ratios and on technical signals such as RSI, MACD, moving averages and volume, and can run the ready-made preset screens from the website.
Is the Indian stock market MCP free?
Yes. The free plan includes 50 successful tool calls a day, with no monthly cap. One question can use several calls if your assistant checks several datasets. The allowance is shared across Google sign-in, personal tokens and the local helper. Failed calls and the built-in guide do not use your allowance. See the pricing page for higher limits.
Why does Claude keep asking permission to use Tapetide tools?
Claude.ai treats every custom connector tool as "needs approval" until you change it. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, select Tapetide, open Tool permissions, and set each tool to Always allow. Claude resets those saved permissions whenever a connector's tool list changes, so expect one round of re-approval after a Tapetide catalog update. Prompts that return without a catalog update are Claude-side behaviour, not a setting in your Tapetide account.
Is the data real time?
Not as a live trading feed; freshness depends on the dataset. Quotes reflect the latest available prices; financials and ownership data follow their reporting periods. Index option chains are end-of-day snapshots. Ask your assistant to include the observation date or reporting period, especially when comparing datasets.
Can it access my portfolio and watchlist?
Once you connect your Tapetide account, your assistant can read your saved holdings and watchlist. It can also add, update or remove entries when you ask. These changes affect your Tapetide research records. They do not place orders in a brokerage account.
Can I use it for historical research?
Yes. Tools cover historical prices, corporate-action adjustments, financial reporting dates, historical identifiers and index membership on a given date. Coverage varies, and some answers carry uncertainty or data gaps. These tools help you inspect the inputs to your analysis; they do not run a trading-strategy backtest for you.
