AI stock analysis tools for Indian stocks compared: free limits, paid plans, Claude and ChatGPT connectors, and how to check an AI answer.

- Pros: free AI on every listed stock; works with any remote-MCP client, with setup guides for 16; parsed concall and annual-report text readable through MCP.
- Cons: TapeAi caps on every plan, and allowances can change as AI costs change. No mobile app. Younger platform with fewer reviews. One MCP question can use several calls. No intraday candles over MCP.
- Best for: investors who want to ask questions in plain English, and anyone who wants Claude or ChatGPT on Indian market data.
Screener AI: best for questions about filings
Screener AI is a chat on Screener.in company pages with direct access to annual reports and earnings calls.
- Price: pay as you use. Screener.in quotes around ₹10 to ₹30 per answer, up to ₹100. Raw rates are ₹100 per million input tokens and ₹800 per million output tokens.
- Free: 10 AI summaries a month on the free account. Premium (₹4,999 a year) includes ₹500 of AI credits.
- Cheaper mode: a "General Intelligence" mode costs less per answer.
- Pros: answers grounded in the company's own documents; no subscription needed to try it.
- Cons: costs add up with heavy use; no MCP server or public API; no analyst ratings to ask about.
- Best for: long-term investors who read annual reports and want help summarising them.
Trendlyne MarketMind AI and Trendlyne MCP: best for screener-heavy users
MarketMind AI is Trendlyne's in-app assistant for Indian stocks. The Trendlyne MCP is a separate connector for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Mistral "or any MCP-compatible AI agent".

- MarketMind limits: Trendlyne says it "cannot rank, filter, or screen stocks" and gives no targets or fair-value calls.
- MCP price: Pro ₹299 a month (400 calls a day, 2,000 a month). Max ₹499 a month (1,000 a day, 10,000 a month). No free tier, no trial, non-refundable.

Tickertape Portfolio AI and Tickertape MCP: best for your own portfolio

- MCP: free for all users, at mcp.tickertape.in with OAuth login, for Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and Cursor.
- MCP tools: portfolio, market status, and US quotes, research and screener. US trading with confirmation. Indian stock research tools are not listed, but it can answer questions about Indian stocks you hold. Indian orders are not supported.

- Cons: its research and screener tools are for US stocks; Indian stocks only through your own holdings. Portfolio AI limits are unpublished.

StockEdge Stock AI: only on the Club plan
StockEdge lists Stock AI only on Club, at ₹2,499 a month or ₹12,999 a year with coupon SHUBH. Premium and Pro do not include it. StockEdge does not describe Stock AI's features or limits on its pricing or Club pages.
- Pros: Club also includes in-house SEBI-registered research ideas and analyst access.
- Cons: AI needs the top Club plan (₹2,499 a month); no MCP or public API.
- Best for: investors already paying for Club for its research ideas.
Plain ChatGPT or Claude: good at explaining, risky with numbers
ChatGPT and Claude are strong at explaining what a ratio means or how to read a cash flow statement. Without a data connection, they answer from training data that has a cutoff date.
- Stale numbers: last year's revenue or an old share price can appear as current.
- Invented numbers: a model may produce a plausible figure that no filing contains.
- Mixed definitions: standalone and consolidated figures, or quarter and trailing-twelve-month values, can get mixed up.
- Fix: connect the assistant to a market data source through MCP, or paste the figures in yourself.
How to check an AI stock answer
- Ask for the date and source period of every number. A revenue figure means little until you know whether it is FY26 consolidated or one quarter standalone.
- Check one key figure against the filing. Open the company's results on NSE or BSE and compare.
- Confirm the basis. Consolidated or standalone, quarterly or annual, trailing twelve months or fiscal year.
- Ask what the tool could not find. A good assistant says when data is missing instead of filling the gap.
- Ignore buy or sell calls. Use AI to gather and explain numbers. The decision is yours.
Which should you choose?
- Free, and you want to ask questions about any NSE or BSE stock: Tapetide.
- You want Claude or ChatGPT on Indian stock data: Tapetide MCP (free tier) or Trendlyne MCP (from ₹299 a month).
- You read annual reports and concalls: Screener AI.
- You already pay for Trendlyne: MarketMind credits come with your plan.
- You hold stocks through Tickertape, Indian or US: Tickertape MCP, free.
- You only need concepts explained: plain ChatGPT or Claude is fine.
