Portfolios as of 30 Sep 2026, compared with 31 Aug 2026. Mutual funds disclose month-end portfolios within about ten days of month end, so this is the September 2026 disclosure, not today's trading.

In the September 2026 portfolios (as of 30 Sep 2026), mutual funds added the most, by value, to National Stock Exchange Of India (₹3,057 Cr, a new holding for 124 schemes), HDFC Bank (₹2,955 Cr, 187 schemes added) and Gland Pharma (₹1,815 Cr, 54 schemes added). The largest net reductions were in ICICI Bank, SBI and TCS. Across the 1,340 stocks the 1,014 compared schemes held at either month end, holdings rose in 670, fell in 525 and were unchanged in 145, against August 2026.

Shares added were worth ₹79,391 Cr and shares cut ₹37,094 Cr at the 30 Sep 2026 close, a net +₹42,297 Cr. Values cover the 1,323 of 1,340 stocks with a closing price that day.

48 stocks were held by none of the compared schemes at the end of August 2026 and by at least one at the end of September 2026; 6 went the other way. New listings and IPO allotments show up as new entries.

Methodology:

- Disclosure month: September 2026. Each fund's portfolio is its holding on 30 Sep 2026, published by the fund within about ten days of month end. It is compared with the 31 Aug 2026 portfolio. Data for this month was complete on our side by 27 Oct 2026.
- Schemes compared: 1,014 of the 1,086 equity-holding schemes that disclosed this month; the other 72 had no August 2026 portfolio on record to compare with, so they are left out rather than counted as buying everything. 40 arbitrage schemes are excluded because their stock positions are hedged with futures and roll every month. One plan per scheme is counted.
- Holdings are summed across the compared schemes for each stock. A stock is counted as bought when that total rose, sold when it fell and unchanged when it did not move. Listed shares, REITs and InvITs are included; ETF and fund units are not.
- Value change is the net change in shares times the closing price on 30 Sep 2026, so a price move alone never counts as buying or selling.
- Splits and bonuses between the two month ends are taken out of the share counts, so a split never reads as buying. When the funds' share counts do not match the filed ratio, the stock is left out (none this month).
- Schemes adding counts schemes that raised their share count, including new positions; schemes cutting counts those that lowered it, including full exits.
