# Screener.in vs Tickertape: which is better? (October 2026)

By Tapetide research team. Updated 2026-10-24.

Screener.in is better for long-term investors who want free fundamental screens and long financial history, while Tickertape is better for beginners who want analyst forecasts, a portfolio tracker and US stocks in one app. Screener.in wins on free depth and refunds; Tickertape wins on price for a paid year, app quality and breadth.

Prices and policies were checked on each vendor's own pages on 24 October 2026. Tapetide is our product; it appears once below as a third option.

## Which is better for screening stocks?

Screener.in suits investors who like writing their own rules. A screen is a query, such as "CFO to EBITDA last year > 100 AND Market Capitalization > 10000". It runs on 10 years of financial data, and over 10,000 user screens are public.

Tickertape suits investors who prefer menus. Its screener lists 247 filters, including analyst ratings, ownership and 33 technical indicators. Free users get 178 of them; Pro unlocks the other 69 and custom filters.

**Winner:** Screener.in for custom fundamental logic; Tickertape for point-and-click filters with technicals.

## Which has better company data?

- **Financial history:** Screener.in shows 12 years of annual statements (Mar 2015 to Mar 2026); Tickertape about 9 to 10.
- **Quarterly results:** Screener.in shows 13 quarters; Tickertape has a quarterly view toggle.
- **Shareholding:** Screener.in shows 12 quarters and lets you search a person's holdings above 1%. Tickertape shows 4 quarters with pledge and institutional trends.
- **Forecasts:** Tickertape Pro shows analyst ratings and price, revenue and EPS forecasts. We found none on Screener.in; its My Forecasts tool uses your own assumptions.
- **IPOs:** Screener.in has an IPO list; we found no IPO section on Tickertape.

**Winner:** Screener.in for history; Tickertape for forecasts.

## Which is better on AI and MCP?

Screener AI chats over company filings, priced per use at about ₹10 to ₹30 an answer, up to ₹100. Premium includes ₹500 of credits, and free users get 10 AI summaries a month. Screener.in has no API or MCP server.

Tickertape's Portfolio AI runs in its app; prices and limits are not stated on its site. Tickertape MCP, which its blog describes as open to all users as of October 2026, is free and works with Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and Cursor. Its tools cover your portfolio, US quotes, US research and a US screener. Its research tools are US-only; for Indian stocks it answers questions about your own holdings, and it does not place Indian orders.

**Winner:** Tickertape, since Screener.in has no MCP server. Tickertape MCP suits US stocks and questions about Indian stocks you already hold.

## Is a Tickertape subscription worth it?

Tickertape Pro is worth it if you use its paid features every month. Pro unlocks analyst ratings and forecasts, 100+ key metrics, the remaining 69 filters, red flags, Pro alerts, data export and an ad-free app. The yearly plan costs ₹2,999, or ₹250 a month.

- **Worth it if:** you want analyst forecasts, track several demat accounts, or invest in US stocks (Pro cuts US brokerage from 0.20% to 0.15%).
- **Skip it if:** you mostly read financials and run fundamental screens; the free plans on both sites cover that.
- **The risk:** no free trial and no refund on cancellation. Pay monthly (₹399) first if unsure.

## Is Screener.in Premium worth it?

Premium is worth it if you rely on alerts and wide comparisons. It raises stock alerts from 10 to 800, screen alerts from 2 to 75 and quick ratios from 18 to 60. It adds custom ratios, segment results, Excel automation and screen downloads. It costs ₹4,999 a year, with a 48-hour full refund.

## Pros and cons

**Screener.in**

- Pros: free query screens; 12 years of financials; 48-hour refund; GST included.
- Cons: annual-only Premium; no analyst forecasts; AI paid per answer; no iOS app, API or MCP.

**Tickertape**

- Pros: cheaper paid year (₹2,999); forecasts; multi-asset portfolio; iOS and Android; free MCP for US stocks and your holdings.
- Cons: no trial or refund; forecasts and export Pro-only; NSE-listed companies only.
- Best for: beginners and investors with US or mutual fund holdings.

## Which should you choose?

## A third option: Tapetide

If you want an AI assistant for Indian stocks, Tapetide's TapeAi answers from each company's financials and shareholding, free for 10 questions a day. The [Tapetide MCP server](/mcp) gives Claude or ChatGPT NSE and BSE data, free for 50 tool calls a day. Its free [FII/DII page](/fii-dii-data) shows daily flows and streaks.

- **Paid:** [Starter](/pricing) ₹3,588 a year, with a 7-day trial at ₹0; non-refundable after that.
- **Limitations:** no mobile app, no alerts, no US stocks; younger, with fewer reviews; TapeAi caps on every plan.

## Switching notes

1. We found no import between the two; re-add your watchlist symbols by hand.
2. Rebuild your key screens: Screener.in queries do not map one-to-one onto Tickertape filters.
3. Moving off Tickertape Pro, cancel auto-renew before the renewal date, since it does not refund mid-period.

Not investment advice. Tapetide is our product. Prices and limits were checked on 24 October 2026; email support@tapetide.com if something has changed.
